Westerly is a seaside town located on the southwestern shoreline of Washington County, Rhode Island. The town is situated on the southern side of the state, with the Pawcatuck River flowing on its western border.

Known initially as Misquamicut, the town was home to Narragansett Indians before the establishment of the English outpost in 1637.
